PREMIUM INFO SERVICE(VAS SERVICE)(PHRASES, SCRIPT)

You’re through to Gareth.
Steve Gold: Hi Gareth – hope you’re well.
Gareth: Yes
Gareth: thanks for asking
Gareth: hope you’re doing good
Steve Gold: I seem to have a scam/premium text charge on my latest bill – £1.25 for a text to XXXXXXX…
Gareth: Let me check this for you
Steve Gold: Thanks :)
Gareth: Please can you tell me the 3rd and 5th character of the answer to your security question?
Steve Gold: X and X
Gareth: Thanks for the information. Please give me a few minutes while I check this for you.
Steve Gold: Tx :)
Gareth: I can see that you were charged 17p for sending texts to the short code xxxxx and xxxxx and £3.75 for receiving texts from 83338 and 80303
Gareth: ). The ‘Interactive text messages’ are premium rate text messages that you sent and received on your phone.
Gareth: You’re receiving these messages as you’ve subscribed to a Premium Rate text message service. You may have sent just one message or registered on certain websites, which could subscribe you to a service, which sends you regular alerts weekly or even up to seven times a day.
Gareth: As a third party provides this service, we’re unable to cancel this service for you, however you can stop these texts be sending a text STOP to the shortcode
Steve Gold: The £2.50 is for Voxsciences – a service I use – voice to text. The £1.25 for the 83338 appears to be a scam when I look online.
Gareth: 80303 is for Vox Sciences
Steve Gold: I work in IT – I know about these scams – I did not request this reverse billed text message to 83338. 80303 is fine – I’ve been subbed to these guys for 2 years+ :)
Gareth: We don’t have any info about 83338 except that their customer service number is 08702480277
Gareth: No worries, as a one off goodwill gesture, I’ll credit 1.25 and this will reflect on the next bill
Gareth: just a moment
Gareth: moment
Steve Gold: Thanks Gareth – appreciated.
Steve Gold: NP
Gareth: Thanks for waiting
Gareth: I’ve credited the charge and the reference number is xxxxxxxx
Gareth: I hope this helps
Gareth: Is there anything else I can help you with?
Steve Gold: http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/08702480277 – appears to be a fraud I’m afraid.
Gareth: Hmmm.. thanks for bringing this to our notice
Gareth: will forward this to our Support team
As of today,  tell me they are investigating, but the bottom line here is what Gareth, the  support staffer says:As a third party provides this service, we’re unable to cancel this service for you, however you can stop these texts be sending a text STOP to the shortcode.”

 premium info service phrase

When it comes to premium rate messages they can only be instigated by actions on the phone or by using your mobile for an online service.

When this happens the service can only be cancelled by the company providing the service and sending out the messages.

This can normally be done by using a stop short code message, a call to them or by email however any refunds will need to be issued by the company who service is being charged for on your bill.

We will be able to see if the service was started through message being sent from the phone and if this is the case then there is nothing that we can do regarding the charges as they have been charged correctly as per the request made through the phone.

If you would like us to take a look at the history on the account for you please follow the instructions on the PM that I have sent and I will be able to take a look at this for you.

However I can’t make any promises in regards to the charges.

Text Info Service Charge incates that you are receiving premium text messages.

The most important thing to do here is act dont just ignore these text messages or turn the phone off this is a big MISTAKE.

First put a stop to the messages.

Text STOP ALL and send to the 5 digit shortcode code.

You will see the number of along side the Info service charge on your bill

This will stop the messages permnantly

When it comes to the charges we will need to look at what has caused them before any type of refund can be discussed and if they were initiated from your phone then we will not be able to refund them.

However, so that we can look at this and also get the service stopped for you I have sent you a quick PM, please follow the instructions on the PM and one of the team will be able to get this looked into for you.

Of course we can look into this for you! :smileyhappy:

I’ve sent you a quick PM, please follow the instructions on the PM and one of our team will be able to take a look at your issue in more detail.

In the mean time you can reply to the message with the word "STOP" and that should unsubscribe you from that subscription.

So that we can see where the messages are coming form we need to look at your account in more detail.
